Rules can be described as the guidelines or instructions of doing something correctly


Conduct of Students

  • 1. Students should wear dress as per the laid down Dress Code of the Institute. Identity cards shall be provided to each student. They are required to carry ID both inside and outside the campus .ID must be prominently displayed on the chest of each student.
  • 2. Students who are not adhering to the Dress Code shall not be permitted to attend class or related activities and shall be marked absent on that day.
  • 3. Punctuality is very important. Students should enter their respective classes at least 5 minutes before the commencement of the classes and leave the classes only after the exit of the faculty. They should maintain perfect discipline inside the classes and strictly obey the faculty members. Students coming late than 5 minutes will not be permitted to attend the classes without the permission of the Principal, that too in exceptional cases.
  • 4. Students shall occupy their respective seats before the teacher enters the classroom. Late comers should not enter the class, nor should any student leave the class room during class hours without the permission of the Principal or Faculty in-charge of the class.
  • 5. No student shall leave the Institute premises during class hours without the permission of the Principal or Faculty in-charge and a gate-pass.
  • 6. Attendance will be marked every hour. Absence for one period or more in a session will be counted as absence for half a day. The students shall be informed about their attendance position periodically by the college so that the students should be cautioned to make up the shortage of attendance.
  • 7. If any student wants to leave, he/she should submit the leave letter recommended by the class Tutor/HOD before getting permission from the Principal. This will be intimated to the Faculty members concerned. A student shall not be absent himself/herself from the class for more than 2 days without the leave letter. Students who are out of the classes for more than 3 days without prior permission will have to bring their parents and meet the Principal.
  • 8. Students should pay the Tuition and College fees within 10 days of the commencement of Classes. A fine of Rs.10/- per day will be charged for next seven days. Thereafter steps will be taken to remove the name from the roll.
  • 9. Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. A student who discontinues his studies after closure of admission will have to remit the full fee for the Course for getting TC, CC or other certificates from the College.
  • 10. Each student will be issued 2 Library books at a time for a period of one week. A penalty of Rs.5/- per book per day will be levied if the books have not been returned or renewed during this period. The students who violate the library rules will forfeit the privilege of borrowing books from the Library.
  • 11. Absence from tests / examinations / tutorials or non-submission of assignments/ not being prepared for presentations/seminar presentations will make student ineligible for internal assessment. No excuses for the same will be entertained
  • 12. All students are required to maintain a minimum attendance of 75% in each semester failing which they shall NOT be entitled to apply for the University Examination. However, those who have genuine reasons and have minimum percentage of condonable limit (prescribed by the Kannur University) could apply with the proper recommendation from the tutor/class in-charge/HOD approved by the Principal.
  • 13. Peeping into the classrooms, signaling by gestures etc. by the students while the lecture is in progress, are acts of misconduct.
  • 14. Gathering in groups in entrance, exit, verandahs and stair cases etc. is strictly forbidden.
  • 15. Mobile Phones and Communication devices, if any, should not be used in the College premises. Students found using their mobiles Phone / communication devices in the campus shall be punishable with confiscation of mobile which shall be returned only after the completion of the course. Strict disciplinary action also will be taken against those who violate this rule.
  • 16. Writing graffiti on the walls of the campus, chairs and tables or anywhere is an act of indiscipline. Such acts will attract severe punishments and fine.
  • 17. Causing any kind of damage to the college property, library books, periodicals, computers, furniture etc. are acts of indiscipline. Such acts will attract severe punishments and students will have to pay for penalty the losses incurred.
  • 18. Smoking, chewing of pan masala, chewing-gum, consumption of drugs or alcohol and such indecent activities in the Campus are strictly prohibited. Misbehavior, habitual late coming, disobedience, absenteeism, malpractices, cheating in the exam and such other acts of misbehavior and indiscipline of a student shall attractfine/memo/punishment. Cases of high levels of disobedience may result in the cancellation of their enrollment in the Course and will be expelled from the college.
  • 19.Eve teasting and ragging are strictly prohibited. Those found in such activities will be seriously punished as per the directions of the Supreme Court and the Kerala Govt.
  • 20. Students shall not invite or encourage outsiders to enter the campus.
  • 21.Demonstrations/campaignings/Strike/dharnas/gherao of any type at any time during the working days of the College is strictly prohibited within the campus.
  • 22.Students shall not take law into their hands with the staff members of the institution or the students . All complaints about the matter shall be made to the Principal. Direction of the Principal and other staff members in respect of academic matters and general discipline must be strictly complied with by all students.
  • 23. Disrespect or discourtesy to guests, faculty and office staff will be considered as an act of indiscipline.
  • 24. Any student who has been formally warned twice or suspended once will not be eligible for the campus beneficial programmes throughout the course.
  • 25.In general, students are expected to bring good name and reputation to the college with their good behavior and their exemplary curricular and co-curricular activities.

Attendance and Leave

Each working day is divided into two sessions. The forenoon session is of three periods and the afternoon session of two periods each of one hour duration except on Fridays with slight changes. The Classes start at 9.30AM on all days. . Attendance will be marked at the beginning of each period by the teacher in-charge of the class.

If Absent:

  • a) For one period: the student will lose attendance for that session.
  • b) For one session: the student will lose attendance for that particular session
  • c) For One period in each session: the student will lose attendance for both the sessions of that day.

No student shall abstain from the class without leave application. The leave application shall be submitted to the Principal through the Teacher-in-charge of the class, in the prescribed form with the college seal affixed. The same should be noted in the Leave Card supplied from the College.

A student shall be permitted to appear for the Semester Examination, only if he/she secures not less than 75%attendance in each semester. Attendance shall be maintained by the concerned Department. Condonation of shortage of attendance to a maximum of 12 days in a semester subject to a maximum of two times during the whole period of a Degree Programme may be granted by the University. A student who is not eligible for condonation of shortage of attendance shall repeat the course along with the subsequent batch.

If a student registered in first semester of the UG degree programme is continuously absent from the classes for more than 14 days at the beginning of the Semester without informing the authorities, the matter shall immediately be brought to the notice of the Registrar of the University. The names of such students shall be removed from the rolls.

Student who complete the course and secure the minimum required attendance for a semester and register for the university examinations at the end of each semester alone will be promoted to higher semesters.

Identity Card

Every students of the College shall possess an Identity Card issued by the college with a passport size photograph of the students and bearing the signature of the Principal & the College Seal. Books will not be issued from the library unless the card is shown to the Librarian. The card must be shown to any member of the staff of the College on demand and it is to be used for bus concession and produced at the time of payment of fee. Keeping more than one Identity Card is punishable. A new Identity Card will be issued on payment of a fine of Rs.50/-in the College Office.
